Abstract
1,058,267. Jet propulsion plant; cooling exhaust gases. A.J. MOORE. April 28, 1964 [April 30, 1963], No. 17530/64. Headings F1B and F1J. The invention relates to a method of utilizing the heat in the exhaust gases of an internal combustion engine to provide a propulsive jet thrust, the heat in the exhaust gases being transferred to a stream of air flowing in a duct, the air being discharged through a jet nozzle. The invention is described with reference to its application to a motor vehicle. A convergent air intake is disposed at the forward end of the vehicle, air entering the intake passing into a duct 10 which terminates at its rearward end in a divergent outlet nozzle 24 which is disposed within a casing 26 into which exhaust gases from the vehicle engine are discharged through ducts 28. The heat of the exhaust gases is transferred to the air flowing in the nozzle and the air discharges at increased velocity to provide jet thrust.
