Abstract
1,058,069. Bending. RHEINISCHE MASCHINENFABRIK FELEX KREBS G.m.b.H. April 20, 1964 [April 20, 1963], No. 16252/64. Heading B3E. A machine for bending wire or strip against a mandrel by means of a plurality of bending tools moved towards the mandrel is characterized in that carriages which carry the bending tools are moved by cams or eccentrics driven by cranks, the cranks for the various tools all having the same crank radius, the crank pins of each being secured to a common frame-like driving member which is caused to orbit at the radius of the cranks by a driving motor. Mounted on a plate 3 around a mandrel 4 are a plurality of tool elements A, B which serve to bend a wire D about the mandrel 4. Each element has a baseplate 5 secured to the plate 3, a bush 7, Fig. 2 (not shown), extending through the plates 3, 5, a shaft 9 having a crank arm 10, counterweighted at 11, secured to one end, and a disc 12 carrying a cam member secured to its other end. Rotation of the shaft 9, and thus the disc 12, by the crank 10 causes reciprocation, to or from the mandrel 4, of tool carrier 16 mounted on rods 14 in anti-friction guides 13, as the cam member engages a roller 18 on the rods 14. The cranks 10 of all the tool elements are driven by a common frame member 19, carrying crank-pins 20, given an orbiting movement by crank means 24, 25 driven by a motor 26. The shaft 9 may have a shaft 53 secured thereto to rotate a member 52 and thus reciprocate a further tool carrier 16. The crank pins 20 and shafts 9 may be resiliently mounted. The frame member 19 may also serve to move the mandrel 4, to operate ejector means for the bent wire and to rotate sets of wire straightening rollers 45, 46 around the longitudinal axis of the incoming wire D. Wire feed.-Wire D is fed to the machine by grippers in a carriage 42 reciprocated by a lever 37 rocked about an adjustable pivot 38 by a crank pin 35 on a disc or arm 34 on an output shaft 32 of transmission means G, an input shaft 30 thereof being rotated by crank means 29 connected by a pin 28 on an extension 27 of a frame 19. The grippers may comprise clamping balls or, Fig. 8 (not shown), spring- urged levers 151 whose pivotal movement about bearing pins 150 is limited by abutments 153 engaging notches 154 in the levers.
