Abstract

1,058,031. Bearings. AUTOMOBILES M. BERLIET, and HYDROMECANIQUE ET FROTTEMENT. March 3, 1964 [March 7, 1963] No. 8871/64. Heading F2A. A metal friction assembly comprises a steel element and a cuprous metal element in frictional engagement with each other, wherein the surface friction zone of the steel element is nitrided and that of the cuprous element contains sulphur and nitrogen introduced by means of a salt bath or gaseous heat treatment. The cuprous element may be bronze containing 88% copper and 12% tin and may be in the form of a bush, the steel element being in the form of a shaft.
