Abstract

<PICT:1057760/C6-C7/1> A mould for casting ceramic articles comprises two separable parts made of an electrically non-conductive, porous material, the external surface of the mould having graphite coatings G1, G2 and the two parts being insulated from one another by a layer B1, B2 of electrically insulating material. As shown the mould is shaped to produce plates or saucers, and openings F1, F2 are provided for charging slip. To the graphite coatings, which are obtained by the application of a graphite suspension in an aqueous or water containing dispersion agent, are secured electrodes which are connected to an A. C. supply at 220 volts. The mould parts may be made of plaster of Paris or fired clay or of a foamed material, such as foamed concrete or foamed synthetic plastics.
