Filaments; supports for; bulbs.-A support. ing-device providing a considerable length of filament at right-angles to the axis of a lamp comprises an upper cross-bar 15, attached to the stem and provided with links to receive the filament, and two parallel but longer bars 18 carried by the ends of a lower crossbar 17 which is at rightangles to the first and is also attached to the stem. The leading-in wires 20 are extended in the direction of the bars 15, 18, but to a distance apart less than the length of the lower bars 18. The filament is wound in prism form over the three bars 15, 18. The lower end of the bulb is pipless and is wider and curved to a larger radius than ordinary bulbs. A reflector may be arranged so as to direct downwards the light from the inclined parts of the filament.
