Abstract
1,057,204. Lining pipes by extrusion. G. WEEKLEY. May 14. 1965. No. 20408/65. Heading B5A. A pipe 10 is lined externally by an extruder 12 when it is moved relative to the pipe and hydraulic pistons 36 force cementitious material 90 from a cylinder 30 through apertures 50 in a direction perpendicular to that of the movement of the extruder. Guide elements 38 position the extruder about the tube and the uniformity of the lining is achieved by means of a vented sealing ring 52 and a number of trowels 82 which are brought into the position shown by a linkage system 62, 64, 78, 88 and downwards manual or mechanical movement of a handle 70. The links 88 may be varied in length if the lining varies in thickness circumferentially and the trowels 82 may be sprung to permit the passage of irregularities in the tube wall. An extruder (120), Fig. 4 (not shown), is operationally similar to that described above, but is modified in design to line the internal surface of a tube.
