In a tank of the floating roof type the cover 15 is provided with a wear band 26 enveloping a series of flexible sealing members 35 adapted to contain a liquid or a flowable solid. Each member 35 is in the form of elongated capsules provided with a filling plug and is made of synthetic rubber having a nylon core. The band 26 may be made of synthetic rubber or, in certain circumstances, constructed of electrically conducting material.
