Abstract
1,056,371. Insulating capacitors. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. Jan. 20, 1965 [Jan. 23, 1964], No. 2469/65. Heading HIM. An electric circuit component, e.g. as shown, a wound electrolytic capacitor within an aluminium housing 1, is insulated by winding 1“ to 2 times round it a stretched foil of polycarbonate resin whose width exceeds one axial length of the component, and heat-shrinking the foil so that the ends 6 and 7 thereof contract to engage part at least of the end faces of the housing. The polycarbonate foil has one property, when heatshrunk, of not exhibiting further heat-shrinking except at temperatures above 125‹ C. which are above the normal working temperatures of the component. Part at least of the surface of the foil to face the housing may be provided with a thermosetting adhesive, e.g. an epoxy resin.
