Abstract
1,055,426. Valves. KELSTON ENGINEERING CO. Ltd. Feb. 16, 1965 [Nov. 22, 1963], No. 46191/63. Heading F2V. A pinch cock is formed by a cylindrical body 1 (Fig. 1, not shown) housing a laminated flexiblesleeve 3 and having three equally-spaced apertures 11 each opening into a guide channel 13 in which an operating member 15 is slidable. The body 1 supports bearings 17 for the actuating means which comprise side covers 21 bolted to an outer cover in the form of a hand wheel 27. A scroll plate 31 located between one cover 21 and the hand wheel 27 embodies spirals that mesh with teeth 33 of each member 15 whereby operation of the hand wheel 27 causes rotation of covers 21 and plate 31 and axial movement of the member 15. The central portion of the sleeve 3 is formed with alternate inwardly and outwardly facing cusps 34, 32, Fig. 2, each of the former being associated with an embedded U-section-plate connected by a screw 35 to the adjacent member 15, Fig. 1. The cusps may be dispensed with and rounded depressions employed instead. The hand wheel 27 may be replaced by gear teeth meshing with a power driven worm; the member may be operated by rods or levers in place of the scroll plate.
