Abstract

Blasticidin-S is prepared by the cultivation of Streptomyces moro - okaensis strain SF-337 (ATCC 19166), suitably in an aqueous medium containing an assimilable source of carbon, nitrogen and mineral salts under submerged aerobic conditions at 25-30 DEG C. for 3-7 days. The blasticidin-S thus accumulated in the medium may be extracted and purified by the known conventional methods.
