Abstract

Gasoline of which at least 45% by volume is distillable at 100 DEG C. is obtained from a stabilized catalytic reformate of which less than 45% is distillable at 100 DEG C. by fractionating to recover (a) a fraction having a cut point not above 90 DEG C. and free from toluene; (b) a fraction having a cut point not above 120 DEG C. containing substantially all the toluene; and (c) a fraction boiling above toluene, and blending part of (a) with at least part of (b) such that the volumetric ratio (c): (b) is lower than in the reformate and such that at least 45% is distillable at 100 DEG C.; at least part of the residues of (a) and (b) is also blended with at least part of (c) to form a blending stock of which less than 45% is distillable at 100 DEG C. The cut points preferably lie in the range 85-90 DEG C. and 110-120 DEG C. and the reformate preferably has an octane number (F1 clear) above 98.
