Abstract

1,053,913. Casting composite tubes. XALOY Inc. Jan. 14, 1965 [Feb. 5, 1964], No. 1722/65. Heading B3F. [Also in Divisions C7 and F2] A wear-resistant lining of high alloy steel (see Division C7) may be formed within a tubular steel housing by charging the housing with particles of the alloy steel, capping the housing and heating it to 2000-2400‹ F. in a furnace having an inert atmosphere. After a time interval of up to 2 hours, the assembly is removed from the furnace and spun to cast the lining. After cooling to about 1700‹ F. the rotation is stopped and the housing covered with diatomaceous earth to ensure slow cooling. The exterior surface of a cylindrical shell may receive the wear-resistant lining.
