Abstract

1,053,822. Electric incandescent lamps; discharge lamps. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. Jan. 22, 1964 [Jan. 25, 1963], No. 2798/64. Heading H1F. An electric incandescent or discharge lamp (Fig. 1, not shown) comprises a bulb 40 having a seal 41 of substantially rectangular crosssection and a cap 42 tightly embracing the seal and made of folded metal strip, the cap serving as one current supply member. The second current supply member is a projecting metal strip 46 which is supported in the cap by a body 45 of insulating material and is connected to a current supply wire 48 extending through the seal, an aperture 47 being provided in the cap to give access to the strip and wire for making this connection. The current supply wire 50 extending through the other seal 49 is connected to a rigid external supporting wire 51 secured to a flange 42b of the cap.
