Abstract

1,053,448. Compressors. AKERLUND & RAUSING A. B. May 28, 1965 [June 2, 1964], No. 22824/65. Heading F1N. An air compressor, Fig. 2 (not shown) for supplying a fluctuating pressure to air operated units such as pumps connected thereto by conduits 26, comprises a reciprocating piston 6 provided with a ring of apertures 24 arranged to register at the end of the piston compression stroke with apertures 13 in the cylinder 5, so that the pressure developed therein is suddenly communicated through an annular passage 11 and the apertures 13, 24 to atmosphere. At the end of the suction stroke oil laden air enters the cylinder through a ring of inlet apertures 14 uncovered by the piston and connected to the atmosphere through an annular groove 12, a lubricating device 20 and a conduit 19. The degree of compression is adjustable by means of a needle valve 16 which allows a portion of the air compressed in the cylinder to bleed away to atmosphere through a by-pass channel 15, the groove 12 and the conduit 19.
