Abstract

1,053,372. Feeding dictation tapes. ASSOCIATED TELEVISION Ltd. March 13, 1963 [Dec. 14, 1961], No. 44862/61. Heading G5R. An endless magnetic tape 1 is withdrawn from a store 9 by a capstan 3 and fed to a similar store 5 and a dictation is made on it by means 12-13-2. The capstan 3 is reversible and switch S1 provides a backspace/correction facility. At a convenient later time, tape is withdrawn from the store 5 by a capstan 7 and fed back to store 9, the dictation being transcribed by means 6-16-17. Both stores contain fixed rollers 21 and gravity- or spring-actuated rollers 22, either store being able to hold substantially all the tape 1. Limit switches S2, S3 connected to one set of rollers 22 act to inhibit one or other of the capstans 3 or 7 when its respective feed store is empty. Other endless tape stores usable instead of the stores 5, 9 are described with reference to Figs. 2-5 (not shown), and these are claimed in divisional Specification 1,053,373.
