Abstract
1,053,253. Bolting. C. I. WILLIAMS. June 19, 1963 [July 5, 1962], No. 24369/63. Heading F2H. An anchoring device comprises a cone member 46, Fig. 2 (not shown), having a threaded bore engaging a threaded end portion of a bolt 44, a projection 47 extending radially from the cone member, and an expansible shell 51 surrounding the cone member and abutting a thrust member 50 on the end portion. The projections 47 tend to prevent rotation of the cone 46 as it is pulled back into the shell 51 which expands against the bore of the hole.- A conical washer 52 is interposed between the thrust member 50 and the shell 51 to reduce the torque on the thrust member. In a modification, the shell 60, Fig. 4 (not shown), has a groove 63 into which the projection 62 fits. The cone member 68, Fig. 6 (not shown), may have a projection 69 which can fracture easily at a point 71 if the cone end passes within the shell. In a further modification, the bolt 35, Fig. 1 (not shown), is joined to a further bolt 42 by the thrust member 38.
