Abstract

1,053,111. Air filter. A. FIOCCHI. Feb. 12, 1964 [Feb. 16, 1963; Sept. 5, 1963], No. 5951/64. Heading BIT. An air clearner for an internal combustion engine carburettor comprises an annular filter element 7 interposed between a base 1 and a cover 12 which are removably connected by a snap connection 5, 13, 14, bent blades 3 being provided near the outlet 2 to produce a whirling flow of air leaving the cleaner. Air intake holes 4 are arranged in a groove around the periphery of the base, each hole having an upstanding edge 4'. The ring 17 is a sound deadener. The filter element 7 comprises gauges 8, 9 and filtering material 10 of woven plastics material, held together by members 11. The cleaner may be made, at least partly, of isotactic polypropylene. In a modified filter element, Figs 4, 5 (not shown), the filter material is held between two concentric reticulated frameworks which snap together by means of grooves and rims on the upper and lower rings of the frameworks.
