[Also in Division B8] A device for cleaning material such as ore from the lower flight of an endless conveyer belt 36, Fig. 2, of a slat conveyer, comprises frame members 10 and 11 connected to cross-members 20 and 21 and carrying endless cleaning members, preferably a pair of V-belts 12 and 14, Fig. 3, having rows of brushes 13 and 15 mounted therein, the V-belts extending round end pulleys 16 and 18 and being driven by a motor 22 through V-belts 24 for movement transversely of the belt 36. Alternatively, the V-belts 12 and 14 may be driven from the drive shaft of the endless conveyer or the V-belts 24 may be replaced by a gear drive. The V-belts 12 and 14 are vertically adjustable by hand wheels 27 and 31, locking wheels 28 and 33 being provided. A cross-bar 34 is bolted or welded to the frame 35 of the endless conveyer and supports the frame members 10 and 11; alternatively, the latter may be supported from the endless conveyer frame 35 by brackets. The pulley 18 is carried by a carriage 37 slidably mounted on the crossmembers 20 and 21 for tensioning of the V-belts 12 and 14 by a hand wheel 39, a locking handle 40 being provided. Mounted on the cross-members 20 and 21 are a plurality of supports 41 carrying idler rollers 42 which are vertically adjustable to conform to the contour of the belt 36. The brushes 13 and 15 consist of bristles extending through the V-belts 12 and 14, Fig. 7, the bottom of the bristles being covered by stitching 13<SP>1</SP>; the bristles are preferably formed of nylon, those on the belt 12 being stiffer than those on the belt 14. The V-belts 12 and 14 may be replaced by a flat belt or only one or more than two V-belts may be provided.
