Abstract
1,052,916. Rectifying. INTERNATIONAL STANDARD ELECTRIC CORPORATION. April 10, 1964, No. 14881/64. Heading H2F. [Also in Division H1] A unitary construction for a relay coil includes a coil and a rectifier arranged to supply the coil from an A.C. source. The coil, rectifier and part of the input leads are all encapsulated in an enclosure which acts as an external heat sink. In Fig. 1 a coil 10 is wound on an insulating former 11 and potted with material 14 through which the leads 15, 16 of the coil pass. Silicon diodes 19, 20, 21, 22 mounted on curved metal heat sinks 19A, 20A to which the coil leads 15, 16 are connected from a bridge rectifier (Fig. 2, not shown) with input leads 26, 27. A frame 25 surrounds the rectifiers and is filled with material which adheres to, and may be the same as. the coil potting material. In a modification (Figs. 3 and 4, not shown) the diodes are disposed about the circumference of a circle, and their leads from the heat sinks. In further embodiments (Fig. 5 and Figs. 6 to 10, not shown) the rectifiers 228 are arranged in an annular recess at one end of the coil former.
