Abstract
1,052,734. Container closures. E. MERCK A.G. May 31, 1965 [Sept. 15, 1964], No. 23039/65. Heading B8T. A tamperproof closure for a container 2 having a threaded neck and collars 3, 4 comprises a screw cap 6 with a skirt 8 having teeth 9 projecting in a direction opposite to that of the screwing-on direction. A locking ring 10 comprising two inner ring portions 13, 14, Fig. 5, not shown, joined by rupturable webs 16 to an outer ring portion 11 rests on the collar 4, and lugs 12 on the portion 11 engage grooves in the collar 4 to prevent relative rotation of the ring. Ring portions 13, 14 have teeth 15 projecting outwardly therefrom in a direction opposite to that of the teeth 9 so that when the cap is unscrewed the teeth interengage and the webs 16 are broken causing the ring portion 11 to fall from the collar 4.
