Abstract
1,052,687. Valves; fluid-pressure brakes. WAGNER ELECTRIC CORPORATION. Aug. 21, 1964 [Jan. 17, 1964], No. 34404/64. Headings F2F and F2V. A brake valve 3 with an inlet 24 connected to a compressor 2 via a reservoir 5 has its outlet 25 connected to a vehicle brake-chamber 9 through a relay valve 7 of the self-lapping type, which is also connected to the reservoir 5 by a line 11 and an auxiliary reservoir 12. In the position shown the outlet 25 is open to exhaust through a valve 33. Upon depressing the brake pedal a piston 41 is lowered against a spring 48 to urge a valve extension on to the valve 33 and close off the connection of the outlet 25 to exhaust. Further movement of the piston 41 forces the valve 33 from its seat 39 and permits fluid pressure from the reservoir 5 to flow through an outlet chamber 44 to the outlet 25. Concomitantly fluid in the chamber 44 flows via ports 27, 28 and a manual valve 14 to a ratio chamber 45 and the fluid pressure in chambers 44, 45 acts on the piston 41 against the applied manual force to provide " feel " and when the forces are equal to allow both valves to move into the lapped position. For full or non-ratio braking the valve 14 is moved counter clockwise to a position where the connection between parts 27, 28 is interrupted and the ratio chamber 45 vented to atmosphere.
