Abstract

105,233. Lipps, E. J. March 21, 1916, [Convention date]. Creel arrangements; tension arrangements. - Relates to the unwinding or delivery of threads, filaments, &c. from supply bobbins &c. Between the stationary delivery bobbin and the fixed guide e is arranged an adjustably pivoted and balanced guide i<1>, which has a tendency to fall towards the bobbin and rises and falls with the varying tension of the thread as it is delivered. To ensure a smooth and steady movement of the guide i<1>, its movements may be controlled by a dash-pot arrangement r, p, the vessel p containing oil &c., and the piston r connected with the guide.being made of about the same specific gravity as the fluid. To increase the friction on the thread as it is drawn off, the end of the bobbin may be provided with a cap k, surmounted by a conical or dome-shaped block m provided with rings or strips of felt &c. o with which the thread engages to a greater or less extent as the guide i<1> falls and rises.
