Abstract

1,052,281. Bending. B.D. STEEL STRUCTURES Ltd. Dec. 29, 1964 [Jan. 4, 1964], No. 459/64. Heading B3E. A pipe M is bent by passing it between three rollers 13, 14a and 14b each having a peripheral contour corresponding to half the circumference of the pipe. The upper roll 13 is rotatably mounted in blocks 8 joined by a bridge 17 and is adjustable by a screw 11 to vary the degree of bending of the pipe. One of the lower rolls 14b is reversibly driven by an electric motor, the rolls 14a and 14b being fixed in a common horizontal plane. The rollers may each be formed by a number of side-by-side sections keyed to a shaft, the sections being exchangeable to suit pipes of different diameters.
