Abstract

1,052,110. Building frameworks; doors; glazing; door hinges. A. G. BOS. Aug. 26, 1964 [Aug. 26, 1963], No. 34971/64. Headings E1J, E1R, E1W and E2F. A building structure comprises hollow polygonal sections 1 provided along at least one side with a single trapezium shaped groove 4 slidably engaged by at least one tenon 14' rigid with co-operating part or parts of the structure. A groove may be provided in each of three of four walls of the section. Hollow vertical and transverse sections may be connected together by a connecting member 12 fitted inside the end of one section 2 and having a tenon engaged within the groove 4 of the other section 1. Four hollow sections (including sections 24, 25) may be connected together by four brackets 26 engaged in their ends to constitute a door. The door hinge comprises a plate 30, having a tenon 14, Fig. 5, on one face which engages within the groove 4 in the section 24, the enlarged base 32 of the plate 30 having a hole (not shown) which receives a hinge pin (not shown) carried by a further plate 35 similar to the plate 30, the plate 35 being attached to the section 1 by the tenon 14 which engages a groove 4 in the section 1. A screwed bore 34 in each plate receives a clamping screw which serves to bear against the bottom of the groove 4 to secure the plate. A fitting 37 carrying a packing 36 also has a tenon 14" engaged in the groove 4 in the section 1, the tenon 14" being of reduced width to allow transverse adjustment in the position of the fitting 37, thereby compensating for doors which may be made of different thickness. Panelling members 20 or glass sheets 29 may be retained by resilient elements 17 each having a tenon engaging the grooves 4.
