Abstract
105,194. Typograph Ges. May 19, 1916, [Convention date]. Moulds for type-bar-making machines, applicable for casting single types. The mould slot is formed on one side by a number of plates 6 of different thickness, which can be raised or depressed independently to adjust the width of the slot; further, one or more of the plates can be depressed against the side 3 to form compartments for casting one or more short lines of adjustable length, or single types. Type-bars having certain characters of increased width can be cast by raising the plates that are opposite these characters above the level of the remaining plates, the mould being shown as set to produce such a character at the end of the line. The plates may be slotted to engage a bar 7 which is mounted in a frame 1 in a fixed plate 4 and a clamp plate 5, pins 8 on the bar engaging the clamp plate. Clamp screws, passing through holes 9, engage the bar 7 and the clamp plate.
