Abstract
1,050,987. Compression springs. GEORGE ANGUS & CO. Ltd. Feb. 27, 1964 [March 11, 1963], No. 8265/64. Heading F2S. A resilient compression spring comprises an elastic body made, e.g. of rubber preferably of cellular structure and formed in a step - shaped manner in the compression direction at the external periphery or, if the body is hollow, alternatively or additionally, at the internal surface. As shown in Fig. 2 the base section 3 is cylindrical and the sections 4, 5 are formed as truncated cones, the body being provided with an internal recess 6. In a generally conically-shaped spring, Fig. 3 (not shown), the inner surface of the body is stepped to provide two cylindrical bores and one conical bore. In a further modification a spring has an exterior outline according to Fig. 1 (not shown), and an inner surface according to the embodiment of Fig. 3. In an alternative arrangement, Fig. 5 (not shown), the resilient body is of rectangular section with -stepped outer surfaces, and a tapered or stepped hollow space can be provided in the body.
