Abstract
1,050,375. Refrigerators. COMPAGNIE FRANCAISE THOMPSON-HOUSTON. June 10, 1964 [June 11, 1963], No. 24092/64. Heading F4H. A refrigerator door comprises a panel 4 mounted in a rectangular frame (Fig. 1) having identical side members 2 and identical top and bottom members 3, hinge members 8, 8b being provided at each comer of the frame-so that the door may be hung from either side of a refriger - ator door opening. As shown in Fig. 3, parts 9, 10 and 11 of each side member 2 together with the panel 4 define an inwardly open channel, the parts 8 of the hinge members being mounted in the upper and lower ends of the channel and the remainder of the channel being left open so that the part 9 of each member 2 forms a handle extending over substantially the whole height of the door. The side edges of the panel 4 are engaged by parts 12 13 and 14 of members 2, a door seal 7 is secured to a part 16 of each member 2 and a tongue portion 7a of the seal 7 and the edge 5a of an inner door panel 5 are gripped between parts 17 of members 2 and the panel 4. The hinge members are provided with recesses 8a which receive pivot pins mounted on the desired side of the door opening. The top and bottom members 3 of the frame are identical with the members 2 except in that the parts 9, 10 and 11 are omitted. Insulation 6 is provided between the door panels 4 and 5.
