Abstract

1,050,131. Brush holders for dynamo electric machines. STACKPOLE CARBON CO. Feb. 24, 1964 [March 11, 1963], No. 7551/64. Heading H2A. An arcuate brush comprises a circumferential segment of a hollow cylinder. As shown, a curved brush holder comprising a slotted channel with side walls 3 supports a curved graphite or carbon brush 7. The brush 7 is secured in position and pressed against the commutator 1 by a constant pressure spring 10 which is fixed to bracket 12. The unsecured end of the metal spring 11 is fastened to a clip 17 which fits over the end of the brush remote from the commutator 1. The brush assembly is supported close to the commutator by rod 4. Figs. 4, 5 (not shown) illustrate the brush located in the brush holder by longitudinal ribs. Fig. 6 (not shown) illustrates the tensioning spring placed at the other end of the brush.
