Abstract

1,049,431. Advancing mine roof supports. GULLICK Ltd. Aug. 12, 1965 [Jan. 6, 1965], No. 509/65. Heading E1E. In a self-advancing mine roof support, which may be advanced by an hydraulic ram, comprising forward and rear support units 11, 10 respectively and a roof-bar structure 23, 14 or structures on upper parts of said units 11, 10, the unit 11 has a base 19 with a plate extension 19a for pivotal attachment at 25 to the unit 10 to cover a substantial area of the floor between the units, and at least one extensible prop 21 may be pivotally mounted on the base 19 for angular movement (controlled by a spring 22). In the form shown to connect the ram 15 to a conveyer C sliding on the base 19 is a flat and wide relay bar 16, over which extends an arch which is straddled by or forms the pivotal mounting.
