Abstract

1,047,243. Hand trucks. GLAVERBEL. Jan. 28, 1964 [Feb. 20, 1963], No. 3675/64. Heading B7B. A truck for carrying sheet materials on edge comprises a base 2 and rest 9 mounted on wheels 10, a detachable wheeled forecarriage being provided for manipulating the truck. The frame 17 of the forecarriage is provided with a foot 27 which engages in a stirrup 18 and a pocket 13 on the base 2 and is connected by links 33 and a circular bearing 36 to a jack unit 22 which has wheels 19 at its lower end and a piston 38 connected to a bent-over part of the frame 17. The jack 22 is actuated by the pump 23 and the pole arm 24 and serves to elevate the end of the base 2 off the ground. During such elevation the relative movement of the arms 33 and the frame 17 cause the locking lever 29 to pivot so that its hook end 30 engages a frame member 3 to prevent disengagement.
