Abstract

A lubricant-fuel mixture for two-stroke internal-combustion engines contains one or more reaction products of sulphur or a phosphorus sulphide with an unsaturated hydrocarbon or with a fatty oil, the total weight of sulphur based on the lubricant component of the mixture being 0.1 to 2%, and the ratio by volume of lubricant to fuel being in the range 1:50 to 1:200. The additive may be a sulphurized or phosphosulphurized terpene or a sulphurized sperm oil, and preferably the mixture also contains 0.1 to 5% of a zinc dialkyl dithiophosphate. The lubricant may be a naphthenic hyrdrocarbon oil and the fuel preferably contains 0.3 g./litre lead. The mixture may also contain detergents, e.g. 0.1 to 8%, based on the lubricant, of a calcium or barium sulphonate or thenolate, and corrosion retarders, e.g. an ethoxylated fatty acid.
