Abstract

A plastic dynamite having a high velocity of detonation is characterized in that it contains ground zirconium silicate, for example in an amount of 2-10% by weight, or ground andalusite (Al2O3.SiO2). Long strings of cartridges may be detonated under a high pressure of water. Examples are given in which the other ingredients are nitroglycerine, nitroglycol, gun cotton, sodium chloride, kieselguhr, ammonium nitrate, dinitrotoluene, cellulose and toluene.
