Abstract

1,046,564. Lasers. OPTISCHE INDUSTRIE " DE OUDE DELFT " N.V. Nov. 26, 1964 [Nov. 28, 1963], No. 48124/64. Heading H3B. The sharpness of light pulses from a Q- switched laser having a rotating mirror forming one end of the resonant cavity, is increased by inserting a Fabry-Perot etalon in the cavity, angled so that it has maximum transmission for light along the laser axis. A second etalon may be provided at a different angle to the laser axis such that it also has maximum transmission for axial light, but so that no other angle of incidence for maximum transmission through one etalon is the same as any other angle of incidence for maximum transmission of the other etalon. Both etalons may be angled in the same plane, perpendicular to the axis of rotation of the mirror, or may be angled at axes crossing each other.
