Abstract
1,045,833. Electromagnetic relays. WESTERN ELECTRIC CO. Inc. June 20, 1963 [June 29, 1962], No. 24570/63. Heading H2B. The movable contact member 4 of a sealed magnetic contact unit is deformed beyond its elastic limit to its set position by a magnetic field after the glass envelope 1 of the unit has been sealed. In the change-over contact unit shown the contact members 2, 3, 4 are held in place during sealing by an axial magnetic field and a magnetic field perpendicular to it. The contact member 2, which may be magnetic or non-magnetic, may be deformed beyond its elastic limit when the movable contact is being set. The contact members 2 and 4 may be hollow to enable the envelope to be filled with gas. If the member 2 is non-magnetic a magnetic wire is inserted in it to enable it to be magnetically held in place during sealing.
