1,044,133. Door operating mechanisms. G. D. PETERS & CO. (ENGINEERING] Ltd. May 18, 1965 [May 29, 1964], No. 22439/64. Heading E2M. In door operating mechanism in which a door or doors are operated electrically, hydraulically, or pneumatically, failure of the operating power releases a latch 23 whereby a spring loaded rod 1 is freed and opens the, or one of, the doors. A motor 7 and gears 30, 31, 6 drive a rack 2 on one end of the rod 1 in one direction only through a free wheel device 8 to comprise the spring 9. A limit switch connected with the latch 23 stops the motor 7 when the latch is in the position shown in Fig. 1. Failure of the main power source releases the latch 23 whereby the spring urged rod 1 strikes an abutment on a door to cause door opening. The mechanism could be applied to a hinged door.
