[Also in Division D1] A pipe or hose comprises extruded inner and outer layers of plastics material such as polyvinyl chloride and an intermediate braided reinforcing layer 13 of thin, broad fibre strips 11b, 12b formed from threads 11, 12 having a total denier of at least 720 and containing a large number of continuous artificial fibres, the reinforcing layer wholly or substantially wholly covering the inner plastics layer. The threads initially have a weak binding twist and during braiding are turned outwards so that the fibres when applied to the inner layer of the hose spread out in the transverse direction of the threads as a thin broad strip.
