Abstract

1,043,902. Vehicle identification. LAN JEN CHU. Feb. 17, 1964 [Feb. 28, 1963], No. 6557/64. Heading B7H. An arrangement for identifying moving, e.g. railway, vehicles, comprises mounted on each vehicle, a first plate 1 formed with coding apertures 3 and a second plate 5 disposed at an angle thereto, and adjacent the vehicle path, a detecting arrangement formed by a radiant energy source 9 provided with means 11 for directing the energy towards plate 5 and a receiver 15 for receiving the energy passed by each aperture in turn after reflection from plate 5. The pulsed electrical output of the receiver is passed to data-processing means means 17. The radiant energy may be light, infra-red rays or microwave energy.
