Abstract
1,043,747. Automatic frequency control systems; telegraphy. GENERAL ELECTRICAL CO. Ltd. Dec. 11, 1964 [Sept. 30, 1963], No. 38503/63. Headings H3A and H4P. In a frequency-shift telegraphy system the frequency Fx of the output oscillator 1 is stabilized by mixing with one of a plurality of crystal-controlled harmonic frequencies Fo to produce a lower (difference) frequency (Fo-Fx) which is applied to a phase discriminator 7 together with a selected one of a plurality of crystal-controlled low-frequency oscillations Fa, Fb, and the discriminator output applied as feedback through a low-pass filter 11 to a reactance valve circuit 2 stabilizing the oscillator 1. Frequency shift of the output of oscillator 1 is effected by an electronic switch 8 which connects oscillator 9 or 10 to the phase detector. The low-pass filter is given a narrow pass-band to prevent high-frequency transients affecting the output oscillator frequency on switching.
