Abstract

1,043,302. Capacitors. CONSOLIDATED ELECTRONICS INDUSTRIES CORPORATION. May 13, 1964, No. 19963/64. Heading H1M. An anode for an electrolytic capacitor comprises a straight unetched wire 10, Fig. 4, a straight etched wire 12 welded at its straight end to the unetched wire and terminating in a shaped jumble, and a dielectric coating applied over the wires. The wire 12 may be straight initially and may be deformed inside a cylindrical die so that it will fit inside a similar cylindrical silver cathode, with the interposition of a non- absorptive paper. The electrolyte may be an aqueous solution of lithium chloride or lithium bromide, and the cathode casing may be sealed by a P.T.F.E. bushing as in Specification 1,043,303. Alternatively the electrolyte may be solid, manganese dioxide being applied to the anode and coated with graphite and copper, and the electrode inserted in a cathode lined with solder, the unit then being heated to melt the solder. The anode wires are preferably of tantalum which is oxidized to form a surface coating of oxide.
