Abstract

1,043,298. Electrostatic holding devices. F. L. MOSELEY CO. Aug. 14, 1964 [Aug. 16, 1963], No. 33314/64. Heading H1P. [Also in Division G1] Sheets of paper are held down to the bed of a graphical recorder by electrostatic field produced by oppositely charged conductors embedded in the bed. In the form shown, two sets of alternately arranged conductors 22, 24 are connected to opposite terminals of a source 30. The conductors may comprise a printed circuit covered with a thin layer, e.g. of fibreglass. Alternatively the wires may be embedded, e.g. in a slab of glass. In an alternative arrangement horizontal conducting sheets of opposite polarity are arranged one above the other.
