Abstract

In a "sandwich" panel comprising outer layers of plastics, wood or metal and a core of tubular cells of impregnated or unimpregnated paper, the core is treated with a foam-forming flame proofing agent. Suitable agents comprise a binder, flame-proofing salt, a resin-forming substance producing a foaming layer and if desired a pigment and a filler; a composition given as an example comprises a polyvinyl acetate aqueous dispersion containing 10% of trichlorethyl phosphate, monoammonium phosphate, dicyandiamide and pentaerythritol which react to form a resin, starch, TiO2, water and ethylene glycol mono ethyl ether.
