A method of preparing a fire retardant polyolefin foam comprised of a polyolefin foam and an article shaped with a sheet, film or fibrous configuration, weldable to the polyolefin foam, comprising incorporating a fire retardant agent consisting of a halogen compound and antimony compound in a polyolefin, form the composition thus prepared giving it the configuration of a sheet, film or fiber and laminate the shaped article of fire retardant polyolefin, thus obtained, with a polyolefin foam, where the amount of the halogen compound is at least 2 parts by weight, based on the halogen, per 100 parts by weight of the foam resin.
