Abstract

A leg support comprising bars articulated in regions corresponding to the natural knee and thigh joints has a sole plate 1 the foot arch supporting portion of which is pivotal relative to the lower end of the bars, the heel portion of the sole plate and the rear of a calf brace 9 being interconnected by a flexible inextensible tie member 4 which limits downward movement of the heel portion during walking. A second tie member 11 is provided between the calf brace and a thigh brace 10 to prevent reverse bending of the knee joint. Elastic members (not shown) are provided to assist bending of the knee joint.
