Abstract

1,041,370. Automatic voltage control. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO Ltd. Feb. 19, 1965 [March 18, 1964], No. 11414/64. Heading G3R. [Also in Division H3] In a D.C. regulator of the type including a series impedance device controlled in dependence upon output variations, the device is arranged to perform a further function involving the passage of A.C. signals. As shown, in a television receiver a stabilized voltage at terminals 5, 6 is derived from an unstabilized source 4 by way of a series transistor 8 the impedance of which is automatically varied to compensate for output voltage variations, this control being effected by a circuit including a further transistor 19 associated with a reference Zener diode 26. The transistors 8 and 19 are also utilized to amplify an audio signal which is applied to a loudspeaker 17 over transistor 19, transformer 22, transistor 8 and transformer 11. The transistors 8 and 19 thus perform both a D.C. function, as regulating elements, and an A. C. function, as amplifying elements. A second embodiment, employing a pentode valve as the variable impedance element and the audio amplifier is described with reference to Fig. 2 (not shown). Filtering capacitors such as 14, 15 and 16 prevent the appearance of the A.C. signals at the D. C. output of the regulator.
