Abstract
1,041,033. Smokers' lighters. ROWENTA METALLWARENFABRIK G.m.b.H. April 10, 1963 [Feb. 8, 1963], No. 54325/65. Divided out of 1,041,032. Heading F4F. The fuel valve 23 of a smoker's lighter is held in open position by a latch 13 which engages in a recess 16 in an actuating member 7, or the lever 19 for opening the fuel valve is attached to a plunger 29 projecting from the base of the lighter and opens the valve when the lighter is lifted off a supporting surface, Fig. 2 (not shown). The latch 13 is pivoted on the pivot pin of the valve lever 19 and is released to allow the valve to close when the lighter is placed on a supporting surface by a spring plunger 29 projecting from the base of the lighter. The actuating member 7 engages an inclined surface on the end of the valve lever 19 and also actuates a change-over switch 4 in the ignition circuit of the lighter. The spring plunger 29 actuates an interrupter switch 5 in the ignition circuit. The lighter of Fig. 2 (not shown) has two further spring-pressed plungers extending from the sides of the lighter and adapted to close the fuel valve if the lighter should fall on to its side.
