Abstract

The new compound N,N1-dimethyl-3,5-di-butyramido-2,4-6 -triidobenzoic acid and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof are prepared from the unmethylated compound by reaction with the methyl ester of a strong acid in aqueous alkaline solution, followed by acidification. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 748,319, 791,997 and 973,881.ALSO:Compositions comprise N,N1-dimethyl-3,5-dibutyramido-2, 4, 6-briiodobenzoic acid as its pharmaceutically acceptable salts in forms (e.g. solutions for parenteral administration) useful as X-ray contrast media. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 748,319, 791,997 and 973,881.
