Abstract

1,040,509. Playing back video signals in slow motion. SONY CORPORATION. Nov. 20, 1964, No. 47366/64. Heading G5R. Television signals recorded as oblique tracks on a magnetic tape are played back in slow motion or as still pictures by slowing or stopping the tape. The rotating head will then cross the tracks periodically and thereby generate noise which is eliminated by using the noise bursts to produce a gating signal controlling a gate in the output circuit so that the gate is closed during noise bursts. If necessary a false signal may be supplied to the output while the gate is closed.
