Abstract

104,032. Cross, C. F. Feb. 23, 1916. Bleaching and washing, materials for.-Wood, jute, straw, and other liquefied vegetable materials and articles made therefrom are treated with hydroxylamine to render them capable of resisting discoloration, or to restore their colour when discoloured. The materials may be bleached before treatment. A solution of hydroxylamine acetate, which may be obtained by mixing a solution of the sulphate with sodium or calcium acetate, is preferably used. In treating paper, the hydroxylamine solution may be mixed with the sizing-solution of gelatine or soluble starch. Specification 20827/99 is referred to.
