Abstract
104,009. Saus, J. Jan. 15, 1916. Carding-engines; feeding carding- engines; sliver-rubbing apparatus; drawing-frames.-In the spinning of mixed long and short wool, or other textile fibres of varying staple, the slivers are drawn from bobbins 4, 5, Fig. 1, carried by a reciprocating carriage 7<1> and passed through guides to the feed-rollers and licker-in of a carding-engine. The traverse of the carriage 7' is such that each guide moves over half the width of the engine. The workers 12 on the carding- engine main cylinder 3 are also given a traversing motion by cams 13. The divided slivers taken from the carding-engine are passed through a guide 14, Fig. 3, to pressure rollers 15, 16 and are drawn by rollers 18, 19, 20 through a porcupine roller 17. They are subsequently rubbed between the leathers 21, 22 and wound upon the roller 24.
