[Also in Divisions A3 and E2] A separable fastener comprises male and female members 20, 30, Fig. 1, the male member 20 comprising a resilient tongue 23 having a lip 25 and a shoulder 24 at a free end thereof, the female member 30 comprising a base plate 31, a pair of channels extending along and perpendicular to the base plate, a rear channel extending along and perpendicular to a rear edge of the base plate, and a bar 36 bridging the longitudinal channels at a forward end of the base plate and spaced therefrom to define an aperture 38 and with the channels, an open top 37 to the female member, the tongue being snap engageable through the aperture 38 for releasable engagement within the female member 30. As shown, the channels on the base-plate are formed by side walls 32, 33 and a rear wall 34 each provided with an inwardly disposed shoulder 35. In the arrangement according to Fig. 6 the fastener is used to suspend a drapery, the member 20 being formed with an attaching element 80<SP>1</SP> provided with an aperture 85 for a nail or screw. In a further arrangement, Figs 12-14 (not shown), for fastening a brassiere at the back, the female member 30 is in two sections joined end-to-end whereby the fastener is adjustable in length.
